Sinking Floors in International Falls, MN Supported with SmartJacks

Owners of this home in International Falls, MN were concerned about the crawl space below their living space. Settling supports contributed to some sinking floors on their main level. After learning about our company's foundation repair service on local television, they reached out to us for a free, no-obligation estimate.

DBS Service Manager Jacob Nustad-Peluso was the Design Specialist for this project. He focused on the crawl space, carefully measuring the areas of sinking and settling. He found that several of the main supports had sunk significantly and designed a solution that would restore the home's foundation.

DBS Foreman Joe Harris and his foundation repair crew performed the foundation support job. They used the warranty-backed SmartJack® System to replace the failing supports in this crawl space.  These telescoping support beams are perfect for the crawl space environment and use an aluminum base to stabilize the beams despite the soil type below it. Our team performed a lift procedure to restore the home to a level position, carefully measuring and securing the SmartJack® beams. 

Sinking Crawl Space Lifted and Supported to Restore Chetek, WI Cabin

Owners of this 1950's cabin in Chetek, WI contacted DBS for some professional help with their crawl space. The cabin had an addition built in 2006, creating some uneven floors on the main level of the cabin. Wanting this to become a 4-season retreat for their family to enjoy, they were also interested in crawl space encapsulation and insulation.

DBS Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer visited the cabin and provided a free, no-obligation estimate of the crawl space work. Because it involved both supporting the crawl space and encapsulation, two different crews completed this work. 

DBS Foreman Nick Burley and his crew first performed the crawl space foundation work. They installed 24 feet of horizontal steel support beams parallel to the dirt crawl space. Our team installed a total of 11 SmartJack® telescoping vertical beams beneath the new support beam and beneath the cabin's existing supports.

After the crawl space foundation repair was complete, our team began the crawl space encapsulation work. DBS Foreman Nick Woods II lead his crew in the installation of a total encapsulation system: a layer of drainage matting applied directly to the crawl space floor, then a layer of TerraBlock™ insulation, and finally a vapor barrier to seal the space. They also applied spray foam to the rim joists to property seal the space from cold air. 

This family now has peace of mind that their cabin will stand up to Wisconsin winter temperatures.

Cracked Walls Leads to Crawl Space Repair in Superior, WI

A homeowner in Superior, WI noticed cracks in the exterior of the home were worsening. The owner wanted to maintain the property value and gain peace of mind that the problem would not get worse. DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home, documented the foundation crack on the outside of the home and inspected the crawl space to find the root of the issue. The dirt crawl space was unsealed and the main supports we sinking. In order to provide a permanent solution for this homeowner, both our foundation repair and crawl space encapsulation crews were needed. 

DBS Foreman Taylor and his crew first performed the crawl space foundation work. They installed 10 feet of horizontal steel support beams parallel to the dirt crawl space. Our team installed a total of 6 SmartJack® telescoping vertical beams beneath the new support beam and beneath the home's existing supports.

Helical Piers Stabilize Deck to Sell Home in Minnetonka, MN

Homeowners in Minnetonka, MN had issues with the large 3-season porch on the back of their home. Over time, the tall support posts had settled and begun to lean, causing the structure itself to sink.

Sales Manager Royce Bunn was the Design Specialist for this job visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate. He discovered more sinking on the back side of the home and designed a foundation repair plan for both the home and the back deck.

Our foundation repair his crew excavated the exterior of the home in order to perform a lift procedure. Our team installed 8 push piers total at the base of the home on the exterior of the home. These galvanized steel piers were then hydraulically driven into the ground to weight-bearing soils. The weight of the home was then transferred to the competent soil.

From there our team performed the deck stabilization work by driving 4 HelixPro® piers beneath the wooden supports. This home is now fully stabilized and ready to go on the market! 

Push Piers Raise Foundation in Duluth, MN Home

This Duluth, MN home was built in the 1940s and had some major issues with sinking and settling. In preparation to sell the home, the owner wanted the foundation issues fixed. After a referral from another local business in the Duluth/Superior area, they reached out to DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate.

DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo is an expert in foundation repair. He completed a thorough estimate and proposed a plan for the home repair using our push pier system. 

DBS Foreman Jose Valenzuela and his foundation crew completed this project. After excavating the soil around the foundation of the home, they installed 4 push piers, as well as an exterior drain to help water move away from the foundation. The push piers attached to the home via steel brackets. Then, long, galvanized tubes are hydraulically driven into the soil. Once competent soil is reached, the weight of the home is transferred and lifted back to its original position. 

This home is now returned to a safe and level position and ready to go on the real estate market!
