Home Insulation Photo Album: Drafty Marcell, MN Cabin Now Livable During Cold Months
The owner of this 80-year old log cabin-style home in Marcell, MN needed help with its energy efficiency. They reached out to us for more information on our Dr. Energy Saver® services.
When our Design Specialist visited their home, the homeowners rated the space 5/10 on the level of comfort and its energy-efficiency. After our expert completed a thorough inspection of the space, they were able to determine exactly where heat was escaping from the home and designed a solid plan to solve the problem.
Our production crew installed two forms of insulation in the space. First, we densely packed insulation into the walls of the home's addition. From there, our team removed the existing ceiling and applied spray foam in its place. The spray foam will then be covered with a finished ceiling by the homeowners.
These two forms of insulation will ensure that the homeowners will experience more comfortable conditions in the wintertime and spend less energy on keeping the space consistently warm.

Our production crew removed the ceiling to apply closed-cell spray foam.
Spray Foam Applied
At DBS, we used only closed-cell spray foam, meaning it's virtually impenetrable after it's applied and cured.
Ceiling Joists Sealed
Sealing joints between building material in paramount in stopping warm air from exiting through the upper levels of the home.
Spray Foam Expands
Once applied, spray foam expands to thoroughly fill gaps. It cures quickly, creating a solid sound and temperature barrier.
Spray Foam Application Complete
After our team applied 3-inches of spray foam and R-value of 7 was achieved which is the recommended amount for our geographical region.
