When a homeowner in Duluth, MN, contacted us at DBS for help with insulating their home, they were looking for an efficient and reliable solution. The project focused on insulating the rim joist and a small entry area using SprayFoam. This small area, measuring 5x7 feet, included a window that occupied half of one wall. The homeowner took the initiative to remove the siding to provide access and planned to reinstall the sheetrock after our work was completed.
Our team ensured that every inch of the specified areas was thoroughly insulated. We sprayed foam under the entryway floor and the underside of the roof, where there was no ceiling at the time. In the basement, we insulated about half of the rim joist, as the other half was already filled with concrete. Despite the small size of the house and the added entry, we ensured that the foam application was precise and effective.
Our efficient and thorough approach left the homeowner with improved insulation, enhancing the overall comfort and energy efficiency of their home.
After extending their floorplan and putting a new roof on their cabin, these customers wanted to re-insulate.
DBS Design Specialist Austin Burley visited the home and provided an estimate for the attic re-insulation project. He designed a custom plan that would air seal the attic, and include new cellulose insulation.
DBS Foreman Nick Woods II led the install of this attic insulation project. The crew applied closed-cell spray foam to the old roof, sealing gaps, cracks, and holes. From there, they installed TruSoft cellulose. This lightweight, yet dense insulation is made from recycled newspapers and coated with a non-toxic formula that is resistant to pests and fire.
After a successful attic insulation like this one, the homeowners should expect increased comfort and reduced energy bills.

Now that they have the new roof installed, they were interested in a more energy-efficient insulation solution to keep heat inside of their home. The owners reached out to DBS after being referred to us by a friend.
Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer visited the home to conduct a free no-obligation estimate. After a thorough inspection, Henry educated the owners on the insulation solution offered by DBS.
Foreman Nick Woods II led the installation of this project with help from a crew. Together they air-sealed every gap in the attic with ZypFoam™ where air could leak from such as floorboards, light fixtures, and the entrance hatch. Then a layer of spray foam was sprayed onto the flooring to completely seal the flooring off before they covered the attic in 17" of blown-in Tru-Soft™ cellulose insulation. A benefit of insulation made from cellulose is that it is saturated with a borate solution for fire retardancy and also makes it resistant to mold and insects.
Now that the attic has been properly insulated, the homeowners will be able to relax comfortably as their homes will feel warmer while their energy bills decrease.
