The owner of this in Duluth, MN had issues with ice dams in the winter. Ice dams are a symptoms of warm air in your home leaking out via the attic. Wanting to save energy and create a more comfortable home, they contacted us about our Dr. Energy Saver insulation services.
Our Dr. Energy Saver Design Specialist went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the insulation project. After inspecting the attic space, it was determined that a combination of rigid foam and expanding spray foam were necessary to effectively insulate the attic.
DBS Foreman Orrin Sundberg and his team installed nearly 400 square feet of SilverGlo™ insulation. This graphite-infused rigid foam insulation will provide a solid radiant barrier and prvent heat from leeching out of the home via the ceiling. The sealed the seams in the foam insulation with expanding ZypFoam to block any air leakage.
They then used our TruSoft™ cellulose to dense pack the exterior walls. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials, perfect for use in our northern climate. Tru-Soft™ cellulose is extra dense and made from recycled news paper. It's treated to be extremely resistant to heat and fire, making it a great companion for an attic space.
This home is now properly equipped to handle warm Minnesota summers and freezing winters with new attic insulation.
