Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

The front of this Minneapolis, MN home was settling. Its lower and upper porches were supported by the same columns. Due to shifting soils, the columns had dropped over time, causing the porch system to pull away from the home. DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo is an expert in diagnosing foundation issues. After visiting the home and taking thorough measurements, he designed a solution using our helical deck piers. DBS Foreman Tyler Nacey led a crew to install 3 helical piers. These steel piers are twisted into the ground in order to reach weight-bearing soil. 

The weight of this porch was transferred to the piers for a permanent solution to foundation settlement.

The owners of this home in Duluth, MN are experiencing their first winter on the north shore. They have noticed that their home has been a bit uncomfortable as their floors feel abnormally cold. Foreman Nick Woods II led the installation of this project. Nick and his team first installed a layer of drainage matting to help with the flow of moisture underneath the insulation. Next, they laid down panels of TerraBlock™ insulation, a durable thermal and moisture barrier. Finally, they installed the last layer, a thick poly sheet material to seal off the crawl space.

The crawl space has been properly insulated, and the owners will experience a more comfortable environment and also gain dry storage space.
