Minnesota, along with other northern states, are areas where radon levels are commonly found to be in the danger zones. As a result, the homeowner was concerned about their own safety and the health of the guests staying in their privately owned lodge and decided to have someone come out to test their radon levels. Following a brief friendly phone call with the DBS office staff, an appointment was made to have a system design specialist make a trip out to the home and lodge to do a thorough inspection for free. At the appointment, the specialist was able to find that the levels were too high and explained what action was necessary in order to lower those levels. Thankfully, DBS offers a full radon mitigation service to rectify the homeowner's dilemma. Following a comfortable price agreement, a date was set to have a crew come out to perform the installation. The customer sealed any cracks in the basement and the system was installed. Now the homeowner no longer has to be concerned about any health threats posed by the radioactive gas.

This Finlayson, MN home was built in the 1930's. With a rock foundation and a cement floor, it was prone to taking on water. The owner wanted to fix the water issues for an overall safer and more usuable basement.

DBS Design Specialist Rich Johnsen is an expert in basement waterproofing and visited the home to provide a thorough inspection. It was determined that drain tile would be installed as well as a new sump pump to protect the basement against water intrusion.

DBS Foreman Zach Jorenby and his crew worked on the interior waterproofing job. The crew began by breaking out concrete to create a trench around the home's footing. Our WaterGuard® drain system was put into place and will effectively capture wall and floor seepage, directing it to a new UltraSump™ sump pump with battery back-up. CleanSpace®, a thick, white poly sheet material was then installed to direct any water leaking from the walls into the drain system below.  CleanSpace® makes an excellent covering for basement foundation walls. The crew finished the job by burying the discharge line in the lawn away from the home. 

This family can now rest easy knowing their basement has the utmost protection in waterproofing technology.
