A homeowner in Prior Lake, MN was experiencing structural issues with a retaining wall in their yard and expressed their concern to DBS. The wood wall lacked support and was installed on a hill, and the homeowner wanted to ensure better stability for the wall. In need of a solution, they had a DBS Design Specialist come out to take a look. After a thorough inspection, it was determined that the wall would need several products installed to better maintain its form and strength. The customer was given a free, no-obligation estimate for the service, and it was time to get to work.
The crew was originally scheduled to perform the job in the winter, but with the weather conditions and wet grounds, it was determined that the project would have to be held off until spring since the machines would not be able to operate in the snow. Though a minor setback, our crew was more than ready to effectively carry out the wall support project by installing GeoLock® and Helical Anchors along the wall. GeoLock® is an anchor system that attaches two separate anchor plates to each other using a steel channel, which is embedded below the ground and creates a pulling force on the wall. The Helical Anchors were installed as another anchor system to help transfer the heavy weight of the wall. The combination of these products made for a much stronger wall foundation.
The results of the project turned out great, and the homeowner can now be more comfortable with a stabilized retaining wall.
