This family home in Brainerd, MN had issues with ice dams in the winter and cold walls. Wanting to restore year-round comfort, they reached out to DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate. Our Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist Austin Burley visited the home and completed a thorough estimate using thermal imaging and other tools to measure the home's energy efficiency. He designed a plan using closed-cell spray foam, cellulose, and a technique called dense packing for the exterior walls.DBS Foreman Nick Woods and his insulation crew installed the new attic and exterior wall insulation systems. They first removed the existing insulation in the attic. From there, they applied closed-cell spray foam to the attic floor and Tru-Soft™ cellulose after that. They dense-packed the walls using Tru-Soft™ cellulose as well, providing a solid radiant barrier against cold winter temperatures.
