Home Insulation Photo Album: Energy Audit in Duluth, MN Shows Need for Insulation
Homeowners in Duluth, MN had an energy audit done on their home and discovered some issues in the attic. Wanting to reduce heating costs and save energy, they contacted us about our Dr. Energy Saver insulation services.
Our Service Manager Jacob Nustad-Peluso went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the insulation project. After inspecting the attic space, it was determined that a combination of rigid foam and blown-in insulation were necessary to effectively insulate the attic.
DBS Foreman Orrin Sundberg began this insulation job by removing the existing fiberglass batting. His crew then completely air sealed the space with ZypFoam, concentrating on gaps in the building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts. From there the team installed nearly 200 square feet of SilverGlo™ insulation.
They then used our TruSoft™ cellulose, covering the roof deck in 18-inches of soft, yet dense insulation. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials, perfect for use in our northern climate. Tru-Soft™ cellulose is extra dense and made from recycled news paper. It's treated to be extremely resistant to heat and fire, making it a great companion for an attic space.
This home is now properly equipped to handle warm Minnesota summers and freezing winters with new attic insulation.
SilverGlo™ Roof Deck
Our team installed SilverGlo™, a rigid foam insulation to the roof deck. This graphite-infused insulation boasts a higher R-value than most foam insulations.
SilverGlo™ and ZypFoam
After our team installed SilverGlo™ on the roof deck, they air sealed the gaps using ZypFoam. This will prevent warm air from escaping via the attic.
SilverGlo™ Radiant Barrier
Oftentimes were cut through the building material of our homes to run wiring, install important utilities, and so one. Not properly sealing those holes afterwards leaves your home prone to air leaks.
Duluth, MN Attic Lacks Proper Insulation
Overtime, fiberglass insulation breaks down and loses its ability to insulate. Our team will remove the existing insulation in this home and add Tru-Soft™ cellulose insulation.
Removed Insulation
Our insulation team removed the existing insulation, and is ready to air seal and then installed foam and blown-in insulation.
