Home Insulation Photo Album: Duluth, MN Workspace Insulated for Year-Round Use
Homeowners in Duluth, MN built a garage on their property that they were in the process of finishing. In order to comfortably use that space year-round, they contacted DBS to learn more about our Dr. Energy Saver® insulation services.
DBS Design Specialist Jacob Nustad-Peluso visited the homeowners and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the insulation work. After a thorough inspection, he recommended both spray foam and our Tru-Soft™ cellulose insluation to provide a sufficient radiant barrier in the garage attic. Our production crew was lead by Foreman Orrin Sundberg. They installed 3 inches of closed-cell spray foam to air seal and insulate the attic space, focusing on the floor joints and space beneath the roof deck. Spray foam expands after its applied, reaching tight spaces and filling gaps and preventing air from passing through. The crew also installed 18 inches of Tru-Soft™ cellulose to provide a high R-value.
These homeowners were happy with the work done and can now enjoy a comfortable garage space year-round!
Spray Foam Insulation Applied
This roof deck is now completely air sealed and insulated with our close-cell spray foam. This material is impenetrable; stopping air flow and moisture.
Spray Foam for Roof Deck
Our team applied 3 inches of spray foam to the attic roof deck.
Spray Foam at Floor Joints
Our team applied spray foam at the floor joists of the attic to prevent warm air escaping from the heated space below.
Spray Foam Application is Fast
Installation of our 2-part spray foam goes quickly. The foam expands as soon is it meets the building materials, to form a solid radiant barrier.
Scuttle Cover Sealed
Our crew also sealed the scuttle cover to prevent warm air from escaping into the attic space above.
18-inches of Tru-Soft™ Cellulose
The recommended R-value for our state is 49. 3 feet of cellulose combined with our team's air sealing more than covers this attic.
Tru-Soft™ Cellulose Installed
Tru-Soft™ cellulose is ultra-dense material made from recycled newsprint. It boasts a value of R-4 per inch applied.
