Basement Insulation Project in Hayward, Wisconsin

Challenge

This basement had issues with maintaining heat during the cold winter months. The homeowner was getting chilled every time they went downstairs to do laundry. She wanted to learn about the available solutions to fix the issue she was facing and knew DBS would present her with those solutions and an energy analysis to fully evaluate the most effective method of insulation. Our specialist, Ron, visited with the homeowner to complete an analysis. After analyzing the home Ron determined that the majority of the energy efficiency issues were caused by heat loss through the basement walls, rim joist, windows, and door. With this information in hand Ron was able to propose a solution that would prove to be most effective.

Solution

Ron used his analysis to show the homeowner that it would make the most sense to use spray foam insulation along the basement wall and into the rim joist, install efficient Everlast windows, and install a Bilco Door. Ron made the benefits of these solutions clear to the homeowner and they agreed to have the work completed. Our crew worked hard to efficiently insulate the basement, install windows & doors and make the home much more comfortable for the customer. 

During the analysis Ron had found additional energy efficiency issues with the home, but the customer wished to take care of the basement first and have DBS complete the work she wanted in the attic, as well as dense packing in the walls, and doors & windows at a later date.
