Insulating Home for Comfort in Danbury, Wisconsin
Challenge
In this home in Danbury the customer was having problems with fluctuating room temperatures and higher than necessary heating bills during the cold winter months. They knew something needed to be done, so they had our specialist Ron come and complete a home energy audit in order to assess where the homeowner could most efficiently and effectively make improvements to their home. In this situation, it was made clear that the majority of heat lost in the home was through the attic and it was also affected by the absence of air sealing in the home.
Solution
Our specialist took the results of the home energy audit into consideration and sat down with the homeowner to discuss the best solution. In this scenario, it was most effective to implement spray foam insulation in the attic and provide proper air sealing. With the approval from the homeowner our team went to work adding the needed spray foam insulation in the attic and properly air sealing the area. With respect to air sealing, one of the main previously unaddressed sources of conditioned air flowing into an attic is through can lights. With this in mind, we were able to properly air seal and insulate the attic, leaving the customer with a much more comfortable and energy efficient living space.
