Helical pier systems are used to stabilize failing or settling foundations. The piers themselves are galvanized steel tubes fit with helical blades. They are hydraulically driven into the ground using rotation, like a giant screw. Once the piers reach competent soil below the home’s surface, the weight of the home is properly distributed and supported. Helical piers prevent further settlement and in many cases restore the home to its original position.
Our crew performed a helical pier installation inside this Superior, WI home in 2016. The home was settling significantly near the front entry as well as the west side. Because the home has a dirt crawl space instead of a basement, our Design Specialist was able to analyze the soil type, determining that the sediment beneath the home would be receptive to helical piering. Our crew was able to install the piers quickly and efficiently with minimal disturbance. This homeowner can rest easy knowing that their home is properly supported.
