The new owner of this early 1900's home in Northeast Minneapolis was concerned about the main support beams in the basement. Interested in eventually finishing the basement, they wanted to ensure that the main floor was fully supported before those plans could commence. DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home and provided a free inspection of the home's basement. He targeted the original basement supports and determined that supplement structural support was needed.DBS Basement Repair Foreman Zach Jorenby and his crew installed two SmartJack XT® supports in this basement. These two galvanized steel beams were custom-fit to stabilize the main level of the home and will provide permanent support. The homeowner now has a stable and foundation and can move on with their remodeling plans.

Support Beam in Not in Contact with the Joists

Upon inspection, our Design Specialist found that this main support beam was not actually holding up the joists above it.

Our Design Specialist determined that this vertical support was not sufficient in supporting the main floor. A SmartJack will be installed here and this beam will be removed.
