Foundation Trouble for Walk-out Basement in Duluth, MN
The homeowner noticed this block foundation was shifting, most likely due to changed in soils after freezing and thawing.
Shearing Material on Exterior Wall
Our Design Specialist notes the shearing happening here. The foundation wall has separated from the footing and has begun to push outward.
Trouble Corner Inside
This is the corner that our team will be targeting to put in the support system. Our GeoLock™ Wall Anchor System will be installed on both walls to ensure that the foundation support system is evenly distributed.
Earth Anchor Installed
The earth anchor is set and installed in the soil away from the home's foundation. Connected to the wall plate on the inside of the wall, this system will be tightened over time to pull the foundation wall back to its original position.
GeoLock™ Wall Anchor System
The wall plate is installed here and is connected to the Earth Anchor on the outside of the home. Over time, this wall plate can be tightened to pull the wall back inward.
Wall Anchors to Support Shifting
Wall anchors in the corner of this walk-out basement will pull the foundation back inwards and prevent further movement.
Insulation Beneath Soil
Our team applied insulation to the base layer of the foundation to give it some extra protection from frost.
