Challenge
Our clients reached out to DBS after worrying for years they had a foundation problem. They had noticed the shifting of the bricks and the walls, carrying a burden around that their home was unsafe, but worrying they would be unable to pay for the construction of the foundation of their entire home. First, we sent a design specialist to the home for a free, no-obligation estimate, making sure we inform the family of what needs to be done and our services. Our design specialist created a proposal considering what the family needed and ensuring the family we do have financing plans and options to fit their price range.
Solution
The services that the home needed varied, the first recommendation was to permanently stabilize the walls in their basement. We do this by installing PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System to support the walls, then install joist reinforcement as needed to the PowerBrace™ system to ensure the home is supported long into the future. The second service is to keep the basement warm and dry. DBS would install a drainage system into the basement to bring any water that gets into the home back outside. Also, installing a drain tile to prevent water damage and keep the area dry. Our design specialist found the areas where this is necessary and requires waterproofing services. The family’s foundation and the overall state of the house will improve through waterproofing to keep the home dry, safe, and warm, while also making sure the foundation is stable at the base to support the entire foundation. We’ve included a pre-production photo of the home before DBS started work to show how the bricks in the basement had shifted and become unstable.
