Foundation Wall Repair in Cloquet, MN

A homeowner in Cloquet, MN reached out to DBS regarding a foundation problem. There had been a large crack running the length of the house within the foundation, and it was causing stabilization issues for the basement walls. This problem was not just in one area, but needed to be addressed for the entire perimeter of the basement. DBS sent out Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo to provide a free, no-obligation estimate for the homeowner. It was going to take multiple days to complete a project like this with several different products, along with the excavation process for GeoLock®. The basement had a waterproofing system installed where the wall anchors needed to be, so the crew had to be mindful of that as well.
Solution
It was concluded that the project would require a total of 16 PowerBrace™ systems and 2 GeoLock® Wall Anchors. The homeowner wanted to make sure to cover the entire perimeter of the basement, which required a fairly large amount of foundation products. The PowerBrace™ Wall Braces are steel beams that are interlocked in front of a bowing foundation wall to help with the support and stabilization of it. The GeoLock® Wall Anchor is a system for foundation repair in which a galvanized steel anchor is embedded in stable, undisturbed soil outside of the foundation soil. Each anchor then gets connected to a wall plate on the interior part of the foundation to help support and straighten the wall. The combination of these two items can be very beneficial to solving foundation wall issues. Though there were a few obstacles to work around, and objects that the crew needed to be wary of, they were able to successfully complete the full installation of the foundation repair. As a result, this service will help in providing a safer, more comfortable environment for the Cloquet residence.
