Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: International Falls Crawl Space Air Sealing and Insulation
This International Falls home was built in the early 2000s. Although the crawl space was fit with fiberglass batting, it wasn't enough to prevent the sump pump and pipes from freezing during the winter months.DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home to provide a thorough inspection of the crawl space. He provided a free estimate for a new insulation plan including our closed-cell spray foam. The homeowners decided to move forward with the plan and our Dr. Energy Saver Team got to work!Nick Woods II and his crew began by removing the existing fiberglass batting. From there, they applied closed cell spray foam to the vertical crawl space walls. Our foam insulation expands as it's applied, air sealing and insulating. The homeowners were happy with the work done and now have an insulated crawl space to protect their home from cold winter temperatures.
Existing Fiberglass Batting
Our team began this project by removing the existing fiberglass batts. Although this is a common form of insulation for crawl spaces and attics, it loses its R-value over time and needs to be replaced.
Indoor Access to the Crawl Space
Sealing your crawl space access points will prevent energy loss and allergens from entering your home's air supply.
Underinsulated, Damp Crawl Space
Dirt crawl spaces are often humid and promote mold growth. In this case, mold was growing on the wooden support beams of the crawl space.
Spray Foam Installation in International Falls, MN
After removing the fiberglass batting, our insulation crew installed closed-cell spray foam along the perimeter of the crawl space.
Spray Foam Air Seals and Insulates
Upon application, our spray foam expands to both air seal and insulate the crawl space from outdoor conditions.
