Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Encapsulation and Waterproofing for Leaking Foundation in Duluth, MN

This home in Duluth, MN was built with both a basement and a crawl space. The homeowner was tired of handling leaks in the springtime and during periods of heavy rain. The dirt crawl space was musty and damp, and water was seeping into the basement via the foundation and concrete floor. Hoping to fix the water and gain more usable space, they contacted us after seeing our work in the Duluth News Tribune. DBS Design Specialist Rich Johnsen went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation inspection and estimate for the work. After visiting the home, Rich recommended installing a waterproofing system around the entire perimeter of the basement, as well as a crawl space encapsulation.  DBS Foreman Joe Harris and crew installed 25 feet of a WaterGuard® subfloor french drainage system to drain water into a brand new TripleSafe™ sump pump. This system contains 3 pumps; the first can handle up to 2,600 gallons of water an hour, the second pump kicks in during periods of heavy rainfall to pump a total of 6,200 gallons of water, and the third pump comes on with a battery back-up in the case of a power outage.For the crawl space, our team installed a full encapsulation system, including TerraBlock™ crawl space insulation, and our CleanSpace® vapor barrier. These two products will work together to keep cold air and water from affecting the rest of the home. The homeowners can now rest easy knowing their home is healthy, safe, and comfortable!
