This recently purchased cabin in Spooner, WI was built in the 1950s and in need of structural repair. The owner was hoping to use this space as their year-round home. They wanted to make sure that the cabin had a healthy foundation and crawl space so they reached out to DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate for the work. DBS Design Specialist Rich Johnsen visited the cabin and gave a thorough inspection of the crawl space. He designed a plan with the homeowner to restore the cabin to a level position. DBS Foreman Nick Burley and his foundation repair crew had the task of installing a crawl space support system and lifting the cabin back to level. The DBS repair crew installed a supplemental beam steel beam to ensure the cabin is properly supported for years to come. Beneath the existing supports and new steel I-beam, we placed 15 SmartJack® beams. These telescoping support beams have steel footings and can be hand adjusted to support natural settling due to soil movement throughout the years.

This dirt crawl space has some issues with moisture and musty smells. After our team installs the foundation support system, they will also install a crawl space encapsulation system to protect the space from moisture and wetness.
