Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Tower, MN Crawl Space Encapsulation Delivers on a Healthier Space
This cabin in Tower, MN was first built in 1895. After owning this property since the 1960's, they've noticed some significant issues with the cabin's foundation and crawl space. After having work done by DBS to correct the foundation issues and save the structure, they wanted to learn more about what steps were needed to properly insulate the home. They reached out to us about our Dr. Energy Saver® services.
Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate. DBS Foreman Orrin Sundberg and his production crew place a drainage layer and vapor barrier in the crawl space. This will prevent moisture from entering the cabin through the crawl space. Keeping your crawl space dry can also significantly reduce long-term damage to the wooden building material supporting the structure. From there, they applied closed-cell spray foam insulation to the rim joists where the crawl space was releasing cold air into the main level of the home.
The owner was happy with the work done, resulting in a great improvement of this cabin's overall health.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Tower, MN
Encapsulating your cabin or home's crawl space is a huge first step in curbing humidity levels in your home, and regulating temperatures year-round.
Drainage Matting Installed
Our production team installed this drainage matting directly on the dirt of the crawl space. This will ensure that if moisture won't evaporate into the wooden support beams or the rest of the cabin living space above it.
CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier
This ultra durable vapor barrier is laid on top of the drainage matting and will assist in keeping moisture below it, instead of evaporating into the cabin.
Closed-Cell Spray Foam
After applying the vapor barrier, our crew applied spray foam to the crawl space rim joists in order to properly protect the space from moisture and cold air.
