Crawlspace Encapsulation in Moose Lake, MN
Challenge
The customer initially approached DBS with the challenging task of preserving their family cabin for the benefit of future generations. The cabin, situated on a property with a small crawlspace, required essential improvements for water and electrical access. Furthermore, concerns about potential sagging in the joint rims needed to be addressed. A thorough inspection by our Design Specialist revealed the need for extensive excavation, involving cutting through the foundation and moving soil out of the crawlspace. The unique challenge arose from the presence of shallow poured foundation walls, necessitating careful excavation only along the edges. The proposed solution aimed to ensure long-lasting stability and functionality for the family cabin.
Solution
Upon careful assessment, our Design Specialist recommended a comprehensive solution. The plan involved cutting access through the foundation, excavating a sizable hole, and carefully addressing the specific needs of the crawlspace. Due to the shallow poured foundation walls, excavation focused solely on the edges. To provide structural support and maintain the cabin's integrity, a 4ft PowerBrace™ beam and two SmartJacks® were strategically installed. These measures not only addressed the immediate concerns but also laid the foundation for improved stability. Following the structural enhancements, the project was finalized with encapsulation, ensuring that the cabin was well-protected against environmental factors. The successful implementation of this solution left the cabin owner delighted, with the confidence that their cherished family cabin would stand strong for generations to come.
