Crawl Space Encapsulation in Grand Marais, MN Cabin Fixes Frozen Pipes and Keeps Cabin Warm
Challenge
The owners of this Grand Marais, MN cabin needed professional and permanent help for their crawl space. The lack of effective insulation was causing heating problems for the cabin. The owners wanted the cabin to be warmer during the winter months so they could visit without water and heating problems. They connected with DBS and set up an appointment for a free, no-obligation estimate. Henry Jungbauer visited the cabin in order to conduct this inspection. After a careful and thorough appointment, he provided a quote for a full crawl space encapsulation. The homeowners were informed of and discussed these solutions and decided to go through with the project.
Solution
A DBS Foreman led the installation of this project with an accompanying team. Together, the team first removed the old, ineffective insulation. This exposed any cracks or holes that were letting in unwanted airflow. They were then able to use SprayFoam insulation to air seal these cracks and create a moisture barrier for the space. Next, they used TerraBlock™'s bottom crawl space insulation. This provides a layer of insulation on the soil to stop cold air from rising into the home. Finally, the team installed a layer of CleanSpace® water vapor barrier to create a dry, clean finish that transforms the space into a great storage area. These solutions will keep this crawl space warm, dry, and healthy for the owners!
