CleanSpace® Installation in Exeland, WI
Challenge
A homeowner called in to DBS regarding an issue with an old cabin crawl space. Dirty crawl spaces are a problem found in many homes and can cause many further issues outside of just the crawl space area. Excess moisture, mold, and failing insulation are often problems found with old crawl spaces. Aside from the lack of encapsulation, the crawl space foundation was beginning to lose its strength. Luckily, this individual reached DBS before the situation began to worsen. Our Design Specialist Royce Bunn met with the homeowner to provide a free, no-obligation estimate for the service. It was determined that the crawl space would need total encapsulation, as well as a foundation support service, in order the resolve the issue.
Solution
DBS sent in a crew with multiple different jobs to tackle on site. It was crucial to get the crawl space covered with the CleanSpace® system. but the foundation also needed more support. The crew installed the SmartJack® system to provide solid support for the sagging crawl space beams. These jacks are made from galvanized steel that can support loads of over 60,000 lbs. Once these were installed and ensured greater stability for the crawl space, it was time to repair and encapsulate the space with a vapor barrier system. There are several steps to follow when installing a crawl space vapor barrier, which can be found in detail here https://www.foundationrepairduluth.com/crawl-space-repair/vapor-barrier.html. The CleanSpace® encapsulation seperates and protects the crawl space interior from outdoor conditions, keeping the space clean and dry.
With the help of DBS, this cabin crawl space will now remain stabilized and protected from potential hazardous conditions that can lead to further issues.
