Lifting and Level Sunken Concrete at Bayfield, WI Hardware Store
Challenge
Sunken concrete has caused our customers a wide array of problems. Uneven concrete can create tripping hazards, create inconveniences when surfaces need to be level, and direct water to places it shouldn't be. In the case of this hardware store in Bayfield, Wisconsin all three of those symptoms of sunken concrete were of concern. Our specialist discussed with the owner about what he was looking to accomplish so that we could provide the customer with the results he was looking for. At this business, it was important to have a level walking surface for the customers and for the employees who had to wheel merchandise in and out of the storage area from time to time. One other concern was the concrete that was sloped toward the building. This was not creating any immediate danger, but over time it could direct enough water under the building where it could wash away the soil and lead to a cracked concrete slab. Taking the concerns into account, the specialist came up with a solution to solve the problem
Solution
Our Foundation Repair Specialist identified each of the problem areas and made a diagnosis of exactly what it would take using our PolyLevel concrete lifting system to lift the slabs back to a level position. This was a fairly simple solution and only required a few penny sized holes to be drilled in each slab of concrete. Our foreman on this job drilled the holes and injected the polyurethane foam under the concrete so it could be safely and accurately lifted into place. One interesting part of this job was the concrete ramp that led inside the building. Even though this ramp was an unlevel surface to begin with, we were still able to lift it back to its original position so it could be used once again as a smooth elevating surface. After lifting each slab to the proper position, the previously drilled holes were patched with concrete and the slabs looked practically new again!
