Garage Concrete Floor Repair in Esko, MN
Challenge
A homeowner in Esko, MN reached out to DBS regarding concrete repair. The garage slab was in very rough shape, with many cracks and uneven surfaces. Additionally, there was a pit hole towards the middle of the slab that needed to be fixed up. It is very important to maintain a solid concrete slab for several reasons. Having cracked and uneven concrete surfaces can be unsafe for those that walk along it. These cracks can be minor or severe, and that can determine how drastically a surface shifts. In this case, the concrete had shifted dramatically with major splitting.
Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo went out to provide a free, no-obligation for the project. After a thorough inspection, it was concluded that the garage floor would need stabilization with PolyLevel®, as well as concrete removal around the pit hole and installation of fresh gravel base and concrete pour within that area. The crew was up for the task to provide this homeowner with a safer, more reliable garage floor.
Solution
The first thing that needed to be addressed was the uneven flooring of the garage. There were many different cracks of all sizes running through the slab, and it had shifted significantly. For this issue, our crew was able to lift and level the slab using PolyLevel®. This is a simple foam injection beneath the surface of the concrete that can help lift and stabilize the concrete slab. Once the PolyLevel® was installed, the next step was to seal the cracks along the slab using NexusPro™ joint sealant. NexusPro™ works to keep unwanted material from infiltrating your concrete. This can prevent the shifting or sinking of the slab. This is a very handy and simple solution to combating cracks within concrete flooring. Once the first few products were installed for this garage, it was time to address pit hole slab. There was approximately a 6x8 section of concrete that needed to be poured to fill in the area around the pit. Before that though, the crew needed to lay a gravel base for the concrete to be poured. All in all, this was a fairly large concrete repair project. Foreman Jace Aili and the crew put in a lot of hard work to ensure a safer, more comfortable garage area for this homeowner!
