At DBS, we were approached by a homeowner in Faribault, MN, who had faced the daunting task of replacing their basement flooring twice due to flooding. After enduring two separate floods, each requiring costly repairs, they were understandably looking for a long-term solution to prevent future water damage before starting any remodeling projects. Concerned about the potential for future flooding, they reached out to our Customer Care team for assistance, seeking peace of mind and a durable waterproofing system.

Solution

In response, we scheduled a home inspection to fully assess the situation. Our System Design Specialist conducted a thorough evaluation of the basement and recommended a comprehensive waterproofing solution tailored to the homeowner's needs. The proposed system included the installation of the WaterGuard® system, IceGuard®, and the DoubleSafe™ Sump Pump.

The WaterGuard® system was installed as an interior perimeter drainage system to intercept water seepage before it could reach the basement floor. To combat potential freezing and blockages—especially important given the harsh winters in Faribault—we added IceGuard® to the exterior discharge lines. Finally, the homeowner was provided with the DoubleSafe™ Sump Pump, a dual-protection system designed to handle severe water intrusion and continue operating even during a power failure.

This combination of products provided the homeowner with a reliable solution, ensuring that their basement would remain dry and protected from future water damage. With the new waterproofing system in place, the homeowner could confidently proceed with their remodeling plans, knowing their investment was safeguarded.
