Water Intrusion Causing Damage in Duluth, MN Home Fixed with WaterGuard®
Challenge
This homeowner in Duluth, MN was facing water intrusion problems. The basement experienced unwanted water intrusion regularly when Duluth would experience heavy rain or melting snow. The owner wanted to dry up the basement and prevent any further flooding so they could renovate the home. They were hoping to change the home back into a duplex, so they could move back in with more family. After hearing about DBS on the radio, the homeowner reached out to receive a free, no-obligation estimate and to find the best solution for their home.
Solution
A DBS Foreman led a crew during this installation. The crew began the installation by removing concrete around the perimeter of the basement floors. After doing so, the team placed the WaterGuard® French drain lines in the exposed flooring. These drains are designed to collect water straight from the source, such as the floor joists or walls. This stops the water from entering the home before it has the chance. The water then runs through the drains and to the newly installed sump pump. This sump pump is then able to discharge the water outside of the home, and far away from the foundation, in order to stop it from reentering the home. Finally, the crew pours new concrete over the system. Once the concrete dries, the final product is a flush floor that is protected against water intrusion.
