Park Point Waterproofing Service in Duluth, MN
Challenge
In the months when the weather begins to warm and snow begins to melt, the grounds become soaked with excess water. Basement flooding can be a big issue for homes with poor foundations or waterproofing systems. In the Park Point area on the shores of Lake Superior, households are constantly battling water inside their basement areas, and this can cause further damage and safety concerns for the homeowners. The challenge with these basements is the rising water levels and large quantities of water that can easily seep their way in to the home. One homeowner in particular reached out to DBS regarding their basement, and was in need of some help. DBS has received many calls out to the area for solutions on how to combat this problem. Fortunately, with the help of our great crews, there is an ideal solution for this water issue.
Solution
DBS provides an optimal waterproofing service that is specially designed to assist the Park Point homes. A lot of the same products used for Park Point are used in any other home our crew visits to provide a better waterproofing system. At this particular home, we installed WaterGuard® that acts as a drainage system for unwanted water coming through the concrete. Along with the WaterGuard®, a TripleSafe™ sump pump was installed to extract any water to an appropriate outdoor location. The sump pump had two discharge lines along with IceGuard® attached, The big step in the project was pouring 4 inches of fresh new concrete on top of the already exisitng concrete floor. Before that, however, the crew had to lay down dimple drainage matting along the exisitng floor, and then proceeded to pour the new concrete. Adding the extra elevation to the floor will allow the waterproofing products to perform at an ideal rate to keep the area clean and dry. A photo of the final results can be viewed here. Overall, the project turned out beautifully, and the homeowner can now be more comfortable with an upgraded basement system.
