Basement Waterproofing & Repair in Silver Bay, MN.

Challenge

DBS received a call from a family in Silver Bay, MN looking to repair an endless list of problems in their basement. The first major problem being water damage. The home had a mold problem that stemmed from water damage. The water was not draining out of the home correctly, and the humidity in the home was also causing problems. When mold problems arise in households, there’s often a strong mildew scent in the home when the water damage has gone long enough without maintenance. Some homes also have high humidity, especially during certain seasons. This can also be one of the reasons why waterproofing is necessary for homes in Minnesota and Wisconsin because of their weather. This home’s project required a variety of our waterproofing services, as well as a few more beyond that.

Solution

Our first step in waterproofing the home is to install the WaterGuard® System that would help with the drainage system along the floor. Then we would also install the WaterGuard® Port for additional access to the system, making sure the water is being managed efficiently. This system would work with the water drainage in the home, making sure that the drainage is not residing within the home. The next step would be to install our TripleSafe™ pump system within the home, this system gives a primary pump, backup pump, and a premium, UltraSump® battery that would make sure to provide the best water management in the sump for the home to maintain this work long into the future.

After this, we would install our IceGuard® system to prevent flooding in the future and make sure that anything in the basement that is clogged or frozen would go through the discharge line, rather than invading the basement and causing further foundation and insulation damage. The last product we used was SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier to keep the basement temperature comfortable and regulated. The humidity in the home was also causing some problems with the temperatures, but we're also making the homeowners uncomfortable. DBS went in depth with this project to make sure their basement flooding was completely avoided and maintained into the future and we worked to create a mold-free living space for our family!
