Walkout Basement in Ely, MN
This walkout basement in Ely, MN was framed out but needed to be properly insulated.
Existing Insulation Replaced
Our team removed the existing fiberglass batting insulation and applied spray foam in its place.
Fiberglass Proved Ineffective
The problem with fiberglass is that it's porous and allows cold air and moisture to penetrate it.
Spray Foam Applied
Our team applied 3-inches of spray foam to the walls. Once the insulation cures, it can be cut with a serrated knife to ensure that building material can properly cover the insulation.
Closed-Cell vs. Open Cell
Closed-cell works just like it sounds; at the cellular level, our foam's cell are closed, meaning that no air or water can penetrate it.
Rim Joists Also Sealed
As air is warmed in the home, it wants to travel upward. Therefore, sealing the rim joists is key to preventing warm air from escaping upwards.
Applied in Tight Places
Our production team is able to apply spray foam insulation behind important utilities where rigid foam insulation can't.
Outside Door Sealed
The area around the basement entrance to the outside was also properly sealed.
Spray Foam Expands
Once applied, spray foam expands to fill gaps and cracks, far out-performing fiberglass batting.
