DBS Continues Tradition by Adopting Three Families for Christmas

Helping families live in healthy, safe, and comfortable home is the vision of DBS Residential Solutions, so helping local families have a healthy, safe, and Merry Christmas seemed like a good fit for a company-wide community initiative.  For three years running, DBS employees have raised money to help families through the Salvation Army Adopt-a-Family Program.

The DBS team raised funds through various activities including a breakfast fundraiser where staff donated $5 for donuts.  In total, with a company match, DBS raised $3200, enough to help two families in Duluth, and one near the DBS Metro Office in Eden Prairie. 

Through the Salvation Army program, families are able to create a Christmas wish list that often contains more needs than wants.  With the money raised, DBS was able to fulfill the wish lists, purchasing items like a microwave, crib, blankets, clothes, toys, pajamas, and other necessities.  Volunteers from the DBS staff stay after work to wrap all the gifts and deliver them to the families’ homes the week before Christmas.

DBS also provides food for a Christmas meal, giving the families a chance to celebrate and enjoy each other. “It’s awesome to see our staff pull together to help others,” shared Cheryl Hubbard, Executive Assistant and coordinator of the Adopt-a-Family effort at DBS, “This is a tradition that we’ll keep going, hopefully helping more families each year.”
