The Attic Prior To New Insulation
This attic was a major contributor to the inefficiencies in the home. The ventilation combined with a lack of insulation allowed the cold winter air to penetrate the living spaces of this home.
Exposed Roof Sheeting
Exposed roof sheeting is not unusual in an attic, but it does contribute to the fluctuating temperatures experienced within the attic. In this scenario we have many options to insulate the attic while leaving the roof as it is or we could use a combination of other options like spraying foam insulation directly onto this area.
Attic Ins and Outs
When insulating an attic, it is critical to understand everything that is coming in and out of the attic. Holes cut for pipes or heating/cooling ducts can allow air to freely enter the home. If these holes are not sealed you will be wasting money heating your home. This is why we do a thorough inspection of our customer's homes, to make sure we provide them with a solution that truly solves the underlying problem.
The Attic Hatch
This one of the most common ways conditioned air in the home escapes to the attic. We need to keep this in mind to properly insulate the home.
The Basement
Here's how the basement looked before we insulated it. These bare walls are a common source for heat to be transferred away from the home.
Pipes in the Basement
Without walls and with the presence of pipes of all shapes and sizes it can often be hard for the usual do-it-yourself homeowner to properly insulate their basement. We use a spray foam insulation to ensure that these areas are effectively insulated.
Air Entering the Home
Anywhere that air has the opportunity to enter the home is another opportunity for heat loss. If this area is not air sealed completely already it will need to be addressed
Open Rim Joist
This is another common area for air to enter a home. Air sealing with spray foam insulation is a common solution in this area.
Blow In Insulation Used In Attic
This home had around 18" of cellulose insulation blown in. This insulation is the proper solution for many attics. It provides a thick barrier of insulation that separates the home from the unconditioned attic space.
A layer of Spray Foam Insulation
Prior to blowing in the cellulose insulation, we sprayed a layer of spray foam insulation. This provides a good base layer of insulation and helps air seal the attic away from the home.
Spray Foam Insulation
With this insulation, we can seal around pipe and duct openings and any other small openings in the attic.
The foam expands for a custom fit
Spray foam insulation expands after it is sprayed. This lets us work in tight conditions and allows for a custom insulation fit every time!
Insulating the Basement
We are able to insulate these smooth basement walls without intruding into the room much at all. The high r-value of this insulation eliminates the need to install walls just to insulate this space. If you would like to have walls installed in your basement, however, we also have a beautiful basement finishing system.
A Well Insulated Basement
An even coat of insulation around the whole basement, including rim joists, , makes this space much more comfortable and make the whole house more energy efficient too!
Nice and Clean
The white color of this insulation gives any basement a fresh clean look, making the space much brighter and warmer.
