DBS Celebrates International Women's Day

In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, we want to feature the owner of DBS Residential Solutions, Bonnie Sundberg. Committed to redefining our industry, DBS sees female leadership as a valuable tool in meeting that goal.

Bonnie grew up in Duluth, MN on a small hobby farm. Raised around family members in the construction industry, this field has been familiar territory for her. In 2012, Bonnie opened the doors to DBS with the vision of creating, "A world where every family lives in a healthy, safe and comfortable home!"

When asked about the value of DBS being a woman-owned construction company, Bonnie said, “As a woman-owned business, I've had to come out of my comfort zone many times since the day I decided to take on the challenge of starting a residential construction company. With my husband mentoring and cheering me on and this great network of contractors I am part of, it has been a huge help for me.”

As a licensed contractor in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, DBS is able to offer foundation repair, concrete lifting and leveling, basement waterproofing and finishing as well as whole home comfort to our service areas. Since 2012, the team has grown from five employees to about 60.

The thing Bonnie loves most about leading DBS is the strong belief she has in the company Vision, Mission, and Values, as well as the importance of creating lasting “WOW” relationships with employees and customers. “I am enjoying this exciting journey I'm on and it gets better all the time because of our team of people here at DBS!”  Bonnie’s emphasis on family helps to shape the company culture, with a one-team mentality in the work that we do across departments.

The fact that DBS is a woman-owned business is something that gives Bonnie and the rest of the team a sense of pride. Women make up about 9.9% of the workforce in construction, most of that being in the leadership and administration, according to The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).
