DBS teams up with Safe Haven to fill their Holiday Wish List

At DBS, our company vision is to create “a world where every family lives in a healthy, safe, and comfortable home!” Although that’s quite a tall order, we believe that our work really does make a difference in our homes, and our greater community. 

That’s why this holiday season DBS partnered with Safe Haven Shelter and Resource Center in Duluth, MN to collect items on their Holiday Wish List 2019. Safe Haven’s mission is to provide “services to women, children, and all survivors whose lives have been affected by physical, emotional, sexual, and economic abuse. Some women who use our services are in physical danger. Others are living with controlling partners in relationships that are emotionally abusive.”

One of our former staffers now works for Safe Haven and has helped us forge the connection with this local organization. Our Wish List drive lasted for about three weeks and staff members used  Save Haven’s list to focus on needed items for children and teens, mothers, and families. We collected gift items like games, toys, candy, as well as grocery store and coffee shop gift cards. One of our administrative staff members Cheryl shared her creativity by designing snowman decals for coffee mugs that she stuffed with hot chocolate mix. 

The items were picked up on December 10, 2019, just in time for the holidays. Safe Haven’s team of advocates will match the gift items with a family’s needs and interests. Mothers at the shelter also have the opportunity to select and wrap gifts for their children.
